If you’re newly engaged, CONGRATS! This is one of the most special experiences of your life — enjoy it and relish every second, even if many of those seconds come with stress.  Sound crazy? I know — but trust me, take the stresses in stride and work through them. Your wedding day will come together regardless of the stress, and after it’s all said and done, your memories will be what remain.  So focus on the good memories and work through the stressful — and don’t let it get you down! Guaranteed, SOMETHING will be a stressor while going through the planning process. And that’s okay!

But you’re not thinking about stressors at the moment — you’re thinking about where to BEGIN. It’s hard! Do you start with setting your date, or finding the perfect dress? Picking the colors or sampling cakes?  The best thing I can advise you is to think about what kind of wedding you want, and what details will be the hardest to come by.  Those vendors that service just one or two weddings a day:  most typically, your venues (ceremony and reception), photographers, videographers, DJ/music selections, in some cases caterers and cake bakers… THOSE items are the ones you want to make sure you book and make down payments on right away.  In Wyoming, our selection of venues can be limited, so be sure to get right on the ball booking your location.  In some cases, this may determine your date — OR, if you have a specific date in mind, it’ll help you nail down that date at your perfect location! (Believe me, this came in handy with our wedding — we had our hearts set on a date, and booked our venue well in advance — a year or so later, I happened to meet the bride who wanted the same date at our venue — and had been disappointed to learn I had booked it so far in advance! I felt bad, but at the same time…I knew that was going to happen in Laramie, WY!)

Other details — the dress, your rings, flowers, in some cases cake bakeries and the like — will need to be high on your priority list, but many of these places service more than one wedding a day, giving you some flexibility for scheduling. Once you get those limited services secured, the rest can be taken care of — and believe me, you’ll breathe MUCH easier!
