Jessi Jane Fieldgrove and John Henry Franzen met on the night of September 27, 2008 in Sheridan, WY. John was attending the University of Wyoming at the time, while Jessi was out of college and teaching preschool in Sheridan. He was in Sheridan that night for the college rodeo. John and his friends were downtown that evening at a local bar when Jessi walked through the front doors with all of her friends and John was the only one standing there right in the middle of the pathway. When they locked eyes all he said was \u201cWow\u201d, and from there he followed her around town the rest of the night, with the clanking of his spurs the only thing you could hear. It took a couple hours before she thought she should say something to the guy who has been following her and, to her surprise, they hit it off right away. They talked every day for the next couple of weeks and soon after, started dating.<\/p>\n

Though the happy couple didn\u2019t know each other prior to that evening they found out later that they had played together as toddlers when their moms would visit each other. The groom\u2019s mother and the bride\u2019s mother were very good friends from high school. In fact, John’s mom arranged the first date of Jessi\u2019s parents when they were only 16 years old. They all lived in Gillette, WY running within the same group of friends and graduating from Gillette High School together. The couple’s dads also attended the same college which, needless to say, made the first \u2018meeting of the parents\u2019 a step they could skip all together!<\/p>\n

Jessi and John have dated for three years going on four. When John proposed on New Year’s Day, they were on vacation in the Cayman Islands with another couple. John and Jessi went to dinner that night and it couldn\u2019t have been a more perfect set up. With the sun going down right next to the ocean and just finishing up a candle-lit dinner, John asked Jessi if she would be his wife and the future Mrs. John Franzen. Shocked and choking down the tears, Jessi of course said yes and they spent the rest of the week long vacation as a newly engaged couple.<\/p>\n

The couple resides in Riverton, WY. John is a professional steer wrestler and also works for his parents, Hank and Lori Franzen who own Powder River Rodeo Company. Jessi is the owner and designer of Outhouse Jewels and also works for his family\u2019s business as a timer and secretary. Her parents are Rusty and Mary Jane Fieldgrove. They will have an outdoor, country wedding at their residence on September 22, 2012, only 5 days before the day they met four years ago.<\/p>\n
